‘Jai Hind, Jai Sindh’ Explores Three Generations of Love Amid 1947 Divide
Inderjit Lankesh’s forthcoming drama “Jai Hind, Jai Sindh: A Love Story” interlaces romance with history by following a love story that spans three generations of a Sindhi family. The director described the film as a mainstream project, featuring stalwarts Mahesh Manjrekar, Jaya Prada, Indira Tiwari, Rahul Dev and Vikram Kochhar, supported by a quartet of new, talented actors. While the surface plot revolves around a youthful romance, the underlying theme reveals the pain of a community that saw its ancestors’ lands, homes and livelihoods transferred to a new nation. Lankesh said the film will portray the anguish of those who lost everything during the partition and will answer lingering questions about the Sindhi diaspora’s historical claims.
