From IUIs to IVF: Why Anushka Chose the More Challenging Path
Actress Anushka Ranjan detailed her fertility timeline on Double Date, explaining why the couple moved from intra‑uterine insemination (IUI) to full in‑vitro fertilisation (IVF). Initially, doctors recommended a six‑month to one‑year trial of natural conception, which the couple followed.
When that window closed without a pregnancy, they tried IUI, a process Ranjan called a “lighter version of IVF” because it involves fewer injections but still demands a strict medication schedule. “The tablets felt odd and the injections, though fewer, were still daunting,” she said.
The limited success odds of IUI pushed the couple toward IVF, a method offering higher chances of fertilisation but accompanied by intense physical side effects and emotional strain. Ranjan admitted to internalising the pressures, worrying that her body was lacking and restricting personal habits such as alcohol and non‑vegetarian food.
Seal observed his wife’s hardship and confirmed that a second IVF attempt would not be considered if the first failed. Both also mentioned that adoption remains a compassionate fallback plan, should they be unable to conceive biologically.
