Inside Ganguly’s captaincy: fearless cricket and the Rise & Fall host’s insights

During a Mumbai interview on October 5, television personality Veerendra Sahraw shed light on the bold cricketing philosophy that defined Team India under Saurav Ganguly’s leadership. Sahraw asserted that the side embraced a daring, high‑tempo style that became a hallmark of the Ganguly era.

He noted that the central objective was to dominate matches on overseas grounds, stating, "We were determined to win as many games abroad as possible, and that drive shaped every decision on the field."

Sahraw also clarified a prior remark suggesting he always played aggressively. He explained that his approach was situational: sometimes he opted for defensive tactics to weather tough phases. His early career memories include a powerful opening duo with Sachin Tendulkar that delivered several crucial victories.

The conversation turned to "Rise & Fall," the reality series where Sahraw will helm season two, taking over from Ashneer Grover. The competition involves 15 contestants over a 42‑day period, split into "Rulers" who command a tower and "Workers" who strive to climb from the basement, with live audience votes influencing who becomes the next ruler.
