Industry Leaders Decry Tanushree Dutta’s Controversial Statement After Nana Patkar’s Passing

Veteran actor Nana Patkar’s death on October 9 triggered a wave of mourning across India. Actress Tanushree Dutta’s description of him as "evil dead" ignited a backlash on social platforms. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICTW), represented by President Engineer Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, issued a formal condemnation on X, calling the language used against a deceased person a breach of human values. Gupta highlighted that this was an unprecedented incident in the industry, remembered Patkar’s Padma Shri honour, his Kargil war service, and his contribution to farmer‑support foundations, and called for respectful discourse in moments of grief.
