Indira Krishna defends TV after Rohit Roy calls it a dustbin

Mumbai, 14 September – Television actress Indira Krishna did not hold back when she responded to Rohit Roy's claim that the small-screen is a "dustbin medium" and his dismissive remarks about TV actors. Speaking to IANS, Krishna said the medium has given actors consistent employment, a platform to showcase their craft and a direct bond with audiences for many years.

She warned that many industry insiders resort to gimmicks to remain visible when they feel forgotten, implying Roy could be among them. "To belittle television, which has nurtured countless skilled artists and even future film directors, is simply inaccurate," she asserted.

Krishna highlighted that several celebrated film directors started by creating successful television shows. She also praised TV's unparalleled reach, noting that it brings actors into homes every day, fostering a connection that other media cannot easily replicate.

"The television industry is not just a job; it is my identity, my source of honor, and my livelihood," Krishna said. "Rohit Roy's perspective is his own, but the respect for the platform that built his career should never be questioned.
