Hariharan and Family Honoured with Rashtrapati Bhavan Visit

Mumbai, October 28: Playback legend Hariharan and his wife Lalitha Hariharan paid a courtesy visit to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, an occasion the singer called a milestone for his family.

The meeting brought together four generations of the Hariharan family, which Hariharan described as a rare and cherished honour. He later shared photographs from the day on Instagram.

The family used the occasion to gift the President a special vinyl edition of 'The Anthem - Vande Mataram' and a distinctive turntable, a gesture that Hariharan said reflected music's place as a gift to the nation.

Hariharan spoke highly of the President's warmth, dignity and courtesy. He said he was particularly moved by the affectionate and respectful conversation she had with his mother, Alamelu Mani, which he said would remain a lifelong memory for the family.

He wrote that the day would always remain in the hearts of his family. Describing the experience, he said that the President's blessings, received in the presence of his loved ones, brought a sense of completion to the journey.

Born into a career that began in the 1980s, Hariharan has become one of India's most recognised playback singers. He has recorded songs in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and other languages. His contribution to Indian music earned him the Padma Shri in 2004.

Fans know him for hits such as 'Tu Hi Re' from Bombay, 'Roja Janemann' from Roja and 'Baahon Ke Darmiyan' from Khamoshi.
