From ‘Hanuman Ansha’ to ‘Machan Baba’: New Spirit‑Driven Epic in Production
Delhi, 13 October – Building on the momentum created by ‘Hanuman Ansha’, which portrayed the life of Neem Karoli Baba, the film industry is now preparing ‘Machan Baba’, a cinematic tribute to another revered mystic, Devrasa Baba. The saint is remembered for his unique riverside platform dwelling and his association with several high‑profile figures of the early‑mid 1900s.
The project is backed by Poonam Gupta OBE, a British‑Indian business magnate dubbed the ‘Paper Queen’, and Vikalp Palwal, an Indian‑American tech and property investor residing in Austin, Texas. Both producers work through Ojas Films, the production division of Ojas SoftTech, which also runs the AstroSej AI platform that merges astrology with artificial intelligence.
The film’s schedule targets a 2027 worldwide launch, reflecting a broader trend of audiences gravitating toward spiritual biographies that blend faith with factual investigation. Detailed research is underway, sourcing letters, photographs, and oral histories that document Devrasa Baba’s reported meetings with the likes of George V, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi.
Both Gupta and Palwal emphasize a commitment to scholarly accuracy and cinematic sensitivity, promising a portrayal that honors the saint’s teachings while exploring the historical and political contexts that surrounded his life.
