‘Hanuman Ansh’ Gains Momentum as Government Covers SGST for Audiences

Uttarakhand’s cultural department has taken an unprecedented step by reimbursing the SGST that cinema owners charge for showing "Hanuman Ansh." A circular signed by the senior officials of the Information and Public Relations Directorate was dispatched to the state's tax commissioner, ensuring that the tax component will be borne by the government, not the viewer.

The film portrays the life of Lakshman Das, later revered as Neem Karoli Baba, focusing on his spiritual ascent and the devotion that turned him into an icon for millions. Vishal Chaturvedi directs, with Shobhina Satya in the lead role, supported by K. Anand Chandan, Purnima Tiwari and Anil Rastogi.

Its musical score, featuring devotional tracks such as "Maine Tere Hi Bharose Hanuman"—voiced by blind artist Sunil Lodhi—and "Parvati," has been a driver of audience enthusiasm.

Starting with a modest box‑office intake of roughly ten lakh rupees, the film continues to draw crowds more than five weeks after release, with weekend figures reflecting strong growth. Cumulative revenues have now crossed the ₹200‑crore threshold.
