Mumbai, November 1: Actress Priyanka Chopra went out for a Halloween celebration with her husband Nick Jonas and daughter Malti Marie. For the occasion, the three adopted distinct costume styles, and the actress shared a family snapshot on Instagram that showcased their creative looks.

Nick chose a cowboy costume. Malti stepped into the role of a ghost princess. Priyanka dressed up as King Kaili, completing the trio's themed styling.

In her post, Priyanka called the family's costumes a “unique blend.” She wrote that a cowboy, a ghost princess and King Kaili had set out to go trick or treating. She also wished all those celebrating a happy Halloween, adding that the season had officially begun.

Priyanka frequently uses social media to share updates from her personal life, including special moments with Nick and Malti. Such posts give followers a window into the family's celebrations.

Alongside the Halloween content, the post also featured glimpses of Diwali festivities. Priyanka called this combined celebration the ‘Diwalloween’ season.

Understanding Halloween

Halloween falls on October 31 each year. People across the world dress as ghosts, witches, vampires or other eerie characters and apply makeup to complete the look. Children wear unusual outfits and visit neighborhood homes, saying “trick or treat,” and in return they receive chocolates or candies.

The festival dates back nearly 2,000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. Celebrated in Ireland and Scotland, it marked the end of the harvest season and the arrival of winter. Celts believed that on the night of October 31, the boundary between the living and the dead became thin, allowing spirits to roam the earth. Over time, the festival came to be observed as the eve of Christian All Saints' Day and eventually evolved into Halloween.

Halloween in Indian cities

In India, the holiday is gaining popularity among young people and children in large cities such as Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi-NCR. Themed parties and costume events are increasingly becoming the way the day is celebrated.
