Gautami Patil Talks Viral Row, Gets Support From Madhuri Dixit
Mumbai, October 24: Marathi dance artist and social media icon Gautami Patil will feature on Kaun Honaar Crorepati, the quiz reality show hosted by actor Madhuri Dixit. Joining TV personality Shiv Thakare on the show, Gautami opened up about her viral video, public backlash and the steps she took after offering an apology.
While discussing the episode, Gautami said she was performing at an event when clips of her began to go viral online. She added that she only found out what had actually happened after she finished her performance and was travelling home.
"As soon as I realised the truth, I put out a statement and asked the people of Maharashtra for forgiveness. It happened unknowingly, but I owned up to it. After that I worked on myself and made sure it would not happen again."
Gautami said that being labelled makes it extremely hard to move forward. She pointed out that people keep circulating old videos instead of showing what she is doing now, which makes them assume nothing has changed.
"I have changed a lot. If you still think I am making the same errors, come and watch my work at any show and point out anything you find wrong. I simply want people to judge me by the work I am doing today."
She also commented on her audience, noting that most of her earlier shows were attended by men, while the share of women spectators has now grown noticeably.
Hearing her side, Madhuri said, "When you have accepted your mistake and taken action to correct it, what else is there to say? Nothing is left to hold against you."
The controversy dates back to 2022, when some of Gautami's dance performances were criticised over obscene gestures and steps. As the criticism escalated, she publicly apologised with folded hands.
