Gauahar Khan, the celebrated winner of Bigg Boss Season 7, has voiced strong disapproval of contestant Tanya Mittal’s persistent body-shaming of fellow participant Ashnoor Kaur on Bigg Boss 19. Khan took to her social media platforms to express her outrage, initially describing Mittal as an “innocent drama queen” but highlighting a disturbing shift in her behavior. Khan condemned Mittal’s comments about Ashnoor’s weight, including calling her an “elephant” and suggesting she doesn’t look her age due to being “chubby” and “putting on weight.”
Khan recalled a past incident where Mittal made a sarcastic remark about Ashnoor’s appearance, contrasting it with a compliment to another housemate, Neelam. Khan emphasized that judging and gossiping about someone’s appearance negatively is unacceptable, stating, “Everyone has the right to consider themselves beautiful.” She further asserted that true beauty stems from inner qualities, not just outward appearance or putting others down. “No matter how beautiful or expensive the attire you wear, if your thinking is not good, you are not beautiful at all,” Khan concluded.
The controversy arose after Mittal, during a task, referred to Ashnoor as an elephant and made derogatory remarks about her weight. Live feeds also captured Mittal and Neelam Giri discussing Ashnoor’s perceived weight gain despite her daily gym visits. They criticized an outfit Ashnoor wore, believing it didn’t suit her body type and would have looked better on them. This discussion has ignited significant backlash from viewers who find the remarks by Mittal and Giri to be excessive and inappropriate, especially targeting a 21-year-old.
Fans have flooded social media with criticism, labeling Mittal and Giri’s actions as crossing a line and engaging in harmful body shaming. The incident highlights the ongoing issues of body image scrutiny within reality television environments.
