From ‘Don’ to Devotion: How Dev Sharma Explains Personal Worship Styles

In a candid conversation in Mumbai, Dev Sharma – the actor portraying Lord Rama in "Shri Ramayan Katha" – compared the spectrum of religious expression to the evolution of the film character Don. He recalled the first Don’s theme song being delivered at a high pitch, almost as if the hero were shouting his presence. The later version, however, employed a toned‑down, melodic tune that still communicated authority but in a subtler fashion.

Sharma used the analogy to illustrate that faith, like cinema, can be presented loudly or softly. He said, “If a person feels comfortable announcing their belief loudly, that is perfectly acceptable. Conversely, many choose a tranquil, inward practice, and that path is equally worthy of admiration.”

He also highlighted his personal devotion, noting that he respects anyone who visits a temple multiple times a day, repeats a mantra 108 times, or maintains the five daily prayers of Islam, because each reflects a genuine search for the divine.

"Shri Ramayan Katha" was released on September 25 and also features Anjali Arora as Sita, Rajneesh Duggal as Ravana, with Sheela Varman and Nirbhay Vadhwa in supporting roles.
