First-time Director Raj Ganesh Uppunuti Leads Cast of 'Shanarathi'

Sampath Nandi’s latest venture, "Shanarathi," marks the directorial launch of Raj Ganesh Uppunuti. The film, announced on August 15, will portray the rustic culture and age‑old practices of Telangana’s villages.

The project is being produced by Nandi’s own Sampath Nandi Team Works banner. Alongside veteran actor Akhil Raj, the ensemble includes folk music star Naga Durga, who is transitioning from stage performances to her first cinematic role.

"Shanarathi" derives its name from a customary greeting exchanged in the region, symbolizing hospitality and togetherness. The production has already taken place at Hyderabad’s Ram Naidu Studios, where a ceremonial shoot welcomed several well‑known film personalities.

According to insiders, the crew will soon move from initial setups to full‑scale shooting, aiming to capture the authentic texture of rural life through a contemporary lens.
