Father’s petition leads to CBI probe; High Court clears path for justice

After six years of legal battles, the Bombay High Court has granted a petition filed by Satyash Salian, father of the late Disha Salian, ordering the Central Bureau of Investigation to take over the case. The court instructed the CBI to file a fresh FIR, record the father’s testimony, and review all prior investigative material.

Attorney Neelesh Ojha told reporters that the court’s directive ensures senior CBI officers will lead the inquiry, and that any person against whom credible evidence emerges will face prosecution. He also noted that the court underscored the principle that no one should be labeled an accused without solid proof.

Satyash Salian, who has repeatedly challenged the earlier police findings, said the decision vindicates his long‑standing call for an impartial investigation. He thanked the judges and urged the CBI to pursue the truth without any external influence.

The incident occurred on June 8, 2020, when Salian, then 28, fell from a building in the Malad area of Mumbai. She had been a celebrity manager, notably for Sushant Singh Rajput, whose death followed just days later. Initial investigations labeled the fall as accidental and later as suicide, asserting no evidence of foul play. The new CBI investigation is expected to re‑examine all evidence in light of the family's concerns.
