Farah Khan shares vintage set photo, recalls 1942 choreography

Mumbai, July 16 – Iconic choreographer Farah Khan used her Instagram platform on Thursday to spark a wave of nostalgia, posting a still from the 1990 romance "1942: A Love Story." The photo captures Khan demonstrating a dance step to actress Manisha Koirala, a movement that later featured in the song “Kuch Na Kaho.” In her accompanying note, Khan expressed a yearning to rediscover the precise choreography she once delivered, and thanked photographer Rahul Nanda for the image. Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film’s ensemble included Anil Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher, Pran and Brian Glover. Khan choreographed all eight musical numbers, garnering significant acclaim. Early on, Kapoor reportedly doubted her ability, suggesting that veteran Saroj Khan be hired, but after observing Khan’s work on the first song, he publicly apologized and recognized her talent. The plot was adapted from the 1992 Kannada hit "Mysore Mallige," based on C.S. Narasimhaswamy’s 1942 story, and became R.D. Burman's final film before his death.
