Gift from fan leads to misunderstandings over religious symbols on actress's shirt

During a recent family outing, Neha Bijlani wore a black T‑shirt that displayed a cartoon figure alongside Urdu script referencing "Allah" and a symbol associated with the Prophet. The outfit, later revealed to be a present from an enthusiastic fan at a shopping centre in Bangkok, ignited a heated debate online.

Critics argued that the design breached religious decorum, while supporters pointed out that Neha was unaware of the script’s meaning. The controversy intensified when Mishri Khan, a Pakistani actress, publicly called for a formal apology, emphasizing inter‑religious respect.

Arjun Bijlani addressed the issue in an Instagram story, stating the couple had no prior knowledge of the inscription’s significance. He apologized for any hurt caused and assured that future gifts would be vetted more thoroughly. The couple also condemned the harassment and threats directed at Neha, labeling them unacceptable.

Their appeal centered on fostering empathy, urging the audience to view the incident through a lens of understanding rather than anger, and to refrain from spreading hatred against the family.
