Esha Koppikar on celebrity responsibility and the NEET controversy
Mumbai, July 23 – Actress Esha Koppikar used an Instagram video to respond to inquiries about the NEET paper leak controversy and the perceived muteness of Bollywood's elite. She clarified that a public figure need not comment on every incident, especially when a measured silence may be more prudent.
Koppikar explained that her personal concern about the alleged leak does not obligate her to issue a statement on each development. "Sometimes staying quiet is a deliberate and responsible act," she said, noting that every comment made by a celebrity can be misread and may invite unwarranted scrutiny.
She further argued that the role of celebrities does not extend to taking over the duties of institutions tasked with handling such scandals. "Our silence should not be interpreted as negligence," she cautioned, emphasizing that thoughtful deliberation often guides the decision to refrain from speaking.
Finally, Koppikar highlighted that genuine progress emerges when the appropriate authorities implement effective measures, rather than when public figures merely raise slogans. She urged that any future commentary from celebrities be driven by purpose and substance, not by the desire for headlines.
