Esha Deol Says She Cherishes Dilbara and Dhoom Girl Tags

Mumbai, October 28: Esha Deol, who is preparing for the release of the action-crime drama 'Pratap', says she takes pride in being remembered for her iconic 'Dhoom Girl' image.

The actress shared in a conversation with IANS that the identity holds a special place in her career and remains popular among fans. She said she has adopted the image with dignity and considers it an integral part of her personality. She added that whenever people call her 'Dilbara' and 'Dhoom Girl', she feels good, as the image helped her earn recognition with audiences, a privilege that many performers do not receive.

Esha also referred to her mother, Hema Malini, to make her point. She noted that her mother has acted in numerous films across a long career, yet people still exclaim 'Basanti Aayi Hai' upon seeing her. Esha said she is very fortunate to be known as 'Dilbara' and 'Dhoom Girl' and loves the affection that comes with these names. She added that she has no grievances.

The 'Dhoom Girl' label came to Esha after her role in the 2004 Yash Raj Films hit 'Dhoom', where she played Sheena. Her modern, stylish and daring appearance drew wide attention. Her look in the song 'Dilbara', which featured a neon green crop top and a denim mini-skirt in a wet-girl style, put her in the spotlight almost overnight. Following the film's release, audiences began calling her 'Dhoom Girl', and the name became her identity.

In the upcoming film 'Pratap', Esha is playing Poonam Ranade. Amit Sadh leads the film as Pratap Ranade, an encounter specialist, and Poonam is an essential and powerful element of the story.

Sachin Saraf has written and directed 'Pratap', which will be released in cinemas on November 20, 2026.
