‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Drives 35 Crore Tree Goal in UP
The nationwide "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign has set an ambitious target of planting 35 crore saplings across Uttar Pradesh during the upcoming monsoon season. Actor Huma Qureshi joined the movement by planting a tree in her mother's honor and documenting the event on Instagram.
Qureshi described the planting as a tribute to her mother's teachings about quiet strength, patience and unconditional love. She emphasized that the act of planting is a living reminder of gratitude, one that continues to grow long after words of thanks have faded.
Alongside massive afforestation, the program supports complementary green measures: river restoration, development of solar‑city zones, promotion of electric mobility, and incentives for farmers who adopt eco‑friendly practices.
The actress urged citizens to take part by dedicating a tree to their mothers and ensuring its care, comparing a child's upbringing under a mother's love to the nurturing a tree requires.
Launched by the Prime Minister, the initiative aims to intertwine personal reverence for mothers with measurable environmental benefits, contributing to increased canopy cover, better water conservation and improved air quality throughout the nation.
