Diwali Dreams and a Bold Entry: Mika Singh's Bachchan Story

Singer Mika Singh has opened up about a long-held wish to attend Amitabh Bachchan's legendary Diwali party, and a bold attempt that ended in an unexpected message from the superstar himself.

The anecdote came up on the quiz show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. Mika recalled that the Bachchan Diwali gathering was a major event on the industry calendar, drawing many of Bollywood's biggest names. He said he often passed the house during the festival, secretly hoping that an invitation would arrive one day.

Addressing the host directly, Mika said, 'I used to pass by your home. Your Diwali party was very popular, with many superstars in attendance. You were the biggest of them all. Every time your party was on, I would drive past your gate and wonder when I would be going in and when I would be called.'

Mika explained that he had not yet bought a grand house, but his car was enormous. Its size led people to believe a star was inside. On the night of the party, media and security were present when he arrived at the gate and honked his horn.

Security opened the gate, assuming a major celebrity had come. Mika said that his sunglasses and the car's dark windows added to the impression, and he drove in without being stopped.

He soon understood that he had not been invited. Mika reversed his car and left. Later, Amitabh Bachchan sent him a message suggesting that he visit and meet him in person the next time.

Reflecting on the incident, Amitabh Bachchan spoke about the family's festival tradition of welcoming guests. He credited his wife, Jaya Bachchan, actress and politician, for the principle. 'Our invitation is extended on every festival, whether Diwali, Holi, or any other occasion,' he said. 'Jaya ji always says our house is open, and whoever wishes to come is welcome.'
