DGPC Treasurer Jagpal Singh Criticizes Quick OTT Ban on Satluj

Jagpal Singh, the treasurer of the District Gurudwara Management Committee in Jammu, expressed strong disapproval of the rapid removal of the film Satluj from the OTT platform G5. Speaking to media outlets, Singh described the 48‑hour takedown as a "blemish on democracy" and accused unnamed political or administrative forces of acting unethically.

According to Singh, the film accurately reflects real‑world issues and should not have been censored without thorough investigation. He pointed out that if the content were truly inaccurate, the Central Bureau of Investigation would have examined it after the ban, yet no such inquiry was reported.

In response to the ban, the DGPC announced that Satluj will be screened in four local gurudwaras: Friday at Guru Nanak Nagar, Saturday at Akhanur Sahib, Sunday at Khor Brais Pura, and on June 14 at Talab Tillo. Singh added that further screenings could follow as the committee secures more cooperation.

The film, featuring singer‑actor Diljit Dosanjh, was launched on G5 without any promotional campaign and faced a swift ban shortly after its release. The DGPC’s community‑based screenings aim to ensure the public can view the contested material despite the streaming platform’s decision.
