Delhi Concert Tribute: Diljit Dosanjh Pays Respect to Security Staff
A live concert in Delhi on Friday turned into a moment of gratitude when singer Diljit Dosanjh stopped his performance to honour the security personnel guarding the event.
The Punjabi star asked the audience to give the officers a warm round of applause. As the cheers grew louder, he saluted them in appreciation of their work.
"If you people were not here, we would not feel safe," Diljit said, acknowledging the role of the security team in keeping the event secure.
He then called a woman police officer in uniform to the stage. The singer said that seeing her reminded him of his mother.
"I can only meet my mother once or twice a year. But when you were standing there, it felt as though my mother was standing there," he said.
He went on to share a personal conversation. "Today my mother called and told me to take care of myself. I told her everything would be alright. Seeing you today, I felt like my mother was standing with me."
The singer also commended the whole police team for ensuring the concert went off smoothly.
After the show, Diljit thanked his Delhi fans and the organisers on social media. "Lots of love to Delhi. Thank you Delhi Police, CRPF, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and BookMyShow Live. Lots of love!"
The Delhi concert had been highly anticipated after getting the go-ahead. Diljit's upcoming shows include Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Lucknow.
