Daler Mehndi Row: Celebrities Stand By Singer
Mumbai, October 27: The controversy surrounding Daler Mehndi's performance at a fair in Uttarakhand has drawn reactions from the entertainment fraternity. Singer Mika Singh has now spoken on the issue, emphasizing that live audiences have every right to express their opinions.
Mika said that during live events, fans openly show whether they are enjoying a performance. Sometimes, if a song does not appeal to them, they even request the artist to change it.
Speaking about the incident, Mika said, 'If you are not liked by someone, some fans shout and ask you to go away. It happens. I also have many hits, but when I sing a boring song, people ask me to change it.' He said the audience at Daler Mehndi's concert was having fun and dancing, while the minister appeared to be the one who was unhappy. He asked people to watch the video and read the Instagram comments to understand how the public responded to the minister.
Mika also shared his personal experience of performing live. He said that artists sometimes face disapproval when their performance does not connect with the crowd. 'These days, if you do not deliver a good performance, your own fans shout, Get out, we are not enjoying it.' He added that when he performs a slow song, the crowd starts leaving.
The event at the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in Uttarakhand became controversial after state minister Subodh Uniyal reportedly stopped the show before it ended. Allegations were made that Daler Mehndi was under the influence and lip-syncing during a Navratri event held in a religious atmosphere.
Following the controversy, several celebrities expressed solidarity with Daler Mehndi. In addition to Mika Singh, Palash Sen, Kapil Sharma, Ila Arun, Anupam Kher and Sudesh Lehri also voiced their support for the singer.
