CINTAA Governance Crisis: Parashar Highlights Exclusion of General Secretary

Deepak Parashar, a seasoned performer in Indian cinema and television, resigned from his elected seat on CINTAA’s Executive Committee and used the platform to expose what he describes as a governance crisis within the body.

According to Parashar, the association’s structure includes a trust overseen by the Charity Commissioner and a committee answerable to the Labour Commissioner. Yet, he claims that public statements and meeting minutes showcase only one or two individuals, sidelining the role of the General Secretary.

Parashar, who also functions as the treasurer, recounted attending every single committee gathering, event and function. He asserted that his attendance record—39 meetings—far outstrips the 29‑plus entries recorded for the President, Senior Vice‑President, General Secretary and other executive members.

When pressed about specific incidents of being ignored, the actor referenced a letter from the Labour Commissioner noting that over fifty percent of the members have stepped down, which legally mandates the dissolution of the Committee. Nevertheless, the association proceeds with AGMs and other sessions.

The actor also questioned the legitimacy of recent leadership reshuffles, pointing out that General Secretary Upasana Singh is no longer listed, and that Mr. Pintal was named as a replacement for Hemant Pandey without any prior discussion with the latter. Parashar urged CINTAA to follow its constitutional provisions and restore confidence among its constituents.
