Aamir Khan’s highly anticipated film, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ a spiritual successor to the 2007 hit ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ is set for release. The film, directed by RS Prasanna, features Aamir Khan as a basketball coach and focuses on children with special needs. Before its premiere, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested several changes, which Aamir initially resisted due to creative concerns. However, the film has now been cleared by the CBFC.
Reportedly, the suggested edits include replacing ‘Business Woman’ with ‘Business Person,’ altering ‘Michael Jackson’ to ‘Lovebirds,’ removing the word ‘Kamal’ (lotus) from a scene, deleting the original disclaimer and adding a new one with a voiceover, and incorporating a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the disclaimer.
The film stars Genelia D’Souza and introduces ten new actors portraying specially abled characters. It is a remake of the Spanish film ‘Campeones.’ The movie is scheduled to release this Friday, June 20th. Advance bookings show a slow start at the box office, with the film struggling to gain traction compared to Aamir’s previous release, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’.
