Box Office Battle: The One and The Paradise Deliver Big Weekend Returns
Mumbai, September 28 – Two very different films are dominating Indian theatres this week, showing that audiences are embracing a variety of genres. Siddharth Malhotra‑Tamanna Bhatia’s fantasy “The One: Force of the Forest” logged a net ₹33.25 crore in its opening three‑day window, while Nani’s gritty action drama “The Paradise” has reached a net ₹92.10 crore after four days, edging close to the ₹100‑crore benchmark.
Both movies benefited from strong weekend footfalls. “The One” attracted viewers with its myth‑laden plot about a Bihar village, a forbidden forest, and the clash between superstition and modernity. Its star‑studded supporting cast, including Sunil Grover and Manish Paul, helped boost ticket sales.
“The Paradise,” on the other hand, taps into nostalgia, featuring a 1980s Secunderabad setting and a storyline centered on community rights and personal revenge. The film’s consistent daily earnings—₹34.65 crore on day one, then steady collections of around ₹15 crore each subsequent day—demonstrate solid audience retention.
Industry analysts say the simultaneous success of a fantasy drama and an action thriller highlights the expanding palate of Indian moviegoers, who are now willing to spend on diverse cinematic experiences.
