On Maha Shivratri, Mumbai’s Babulnath Temple brimmed with fervent devotees, including prominent Bollywood figures. The temple, completed after decades of dedication, drew stars like director Madhur Bhandarkar and producer Ashok Pandit for darshan of Lord Shiva.
The duo’s visit highlighted the deep spiritual pull of the occasion. Bhandarkar, speaking to reporters, described the electric devotion amid the crowds. ‘Babulnath’s faith transcends Mumbai—it’s a national treasure,’ he remarked. ‘This visit on Shivratri is incredibly fortunate. May all attain prosperity and wellness.’
For Pandit, whose roots lie in Kashmir, the festival carries extra significance. ‘Shivratri is special for us Kashmiri Pandits as ardent Shiva bhakts,’ he explained. ‘This temple instills unparalleled peace. My prayers are for our security forces and their loved ones.’
Turning to cricket, Bhandarkar was unequivocal: ‘India will win against Pakistan today. The country’s prayers are with our team.’ Pandit echoed the optimism but with a caveat. ‘Such matches with terror-sponsoring nations shouldn’t occur,’ he said firmly. ‘Yet, victory is assured for our talented young squad on this divine day.’
This convergence of faith, celebrity, and sports passion at Babulnath exemplified Maha Shivratri’s unifying power, as thousands chanted hymns hoping for blessings in all spheres of life.
