Bhumi Pednekar Dedicates Herself to Lord Mahakal

Actress Bhumi Pednekar has spoken about her recent visit to the Mahakal temple in Ujjain, saying she has entirely devoted herself to the feet of Lord Shiva. Announcing this on Wednesday, the actress highlighted the spiritual significance of her trip.

Pednekar shared several photos and video clips from the visit on Instagram. Her caption read, "Just surrendered myself in front of Mahakal. Jai Shri Mahakal. Happy Diwali."

The post has drawn considerable attention and praise from her fans as well as members of the film fraternity. A number of celebrities and notable personalities responded to her post through comments.

Shri Mahakal, or Lord Mahakaleshwar, is a highly famous and sacred Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva situated in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Its idol faces south, making it distinct among all twelve Jyotirlingas and особенно significant within Tantric practices. The Shivalinga is considered swayambhu, meaning self-originated rather than established by humans. Tradition holds that Baba Mahakal is the king of Ujjain, and that no other ruler may halt there overnight without his permission. The main shrine is arranged on three levels: Mahakal in the underground chamber, Omkareshwar on the first floor, and Nagchandreshwar at the top.

In terms of her upcoming projects, Pednekar will feature in filmmaker Sandeep Singh's forthcoming two-part historical film 'The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj'. She plays Rani Belawadi Mallamma, a fearless warrior queen from Karnataka. Rishab Shetty, a prominent name in South Indian cinema, stars as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, while Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi and Shefali Shah appear in key supporting roles. Sandeep Singh directs the project.

The historical film will hit cinemas on January 21, 2027.
