Bhabla Foundation’s TV Book Mark campaign receives star support for TB care
The Bhabla Foundation’s TB‑focused TV Book Mark campaign garnered star power on Wednesday when veteran actor Rakesh Bedi appeared at the Mumbai venue. Bedi lauded the organisation’s dual strategy of raising public consciousness while simultaneously administering treatment to those afflicted with tuberculosis.
Speaking to the press, the actor noted that the current generation—particularly Generation Z—exhibits heightened awareness of TB’s risks and preventive measures. He praised national programmes such as the Prime Minister’s “TB Free India” drive and the N‑Kshay initiative for delivering community screening, free diagnostic services and essential nutrition to patients.
Bedi also reflected on his extensive career, mentioning his graduation from the Pune Film and Television Institute, early theatre work in Delhi, and his film debut in 1979 with “Ahsas”. He recalled landmark roles in “Chashme Buddoor”, “Ek Dujhe Ke Liye”, and long‑running television shows like “Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai” and “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah”.
His recent venture into the “Dhurandhar” film series, where he portrays Jamila Jamali Khan, has earned critical praise, showcasing his adaptability across genres. Bedi’s participation in the Bhabla Foundation event underscores the growing collaboration between the entertainment industry and health‑focused NGOs.
