Behind the scenes: How a small part in 'Dhamini' turned into a fan favorite

When Sanjay D'Ol was approached for *Dhamini*, he was told the role would be a minimal addition to an ensemble drama. The actor, who was keen to support friends producing the film, accepted the offer with little expectation of impact.

During the shoot, Deol's brief appearance was filmed alongside lead actress Meenakshi Seshadri. Little did the team know that the scene would spark a wave of online discussion, with fans quoting his dialogues and sharing short clips across platforms.

The film narrates the story of Dhamini, a young woman who, after seeing a rape committed by her sister‑in‑law's husband and his companions, decides to fight for justice. Directed by Rajkumar Santosh, the movie also stars Rishi Kapoor, Amrish Puri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Paresh Rawal, creating a powerful backdrop for Deol's unexpected moment in the spotlight.
