‘Bantwara 1947’ Cast Highlights Partition Trauma as Film Prepares for August Release
The ensemble of "Bantwara 1947" – featuring Shabana Azmi, Preeti Jinha, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh – has been actively promoting the film across Punjab. Director Rajkumar Santoshi explained that the story follows a family torn apart by communal violence, forced migrations, and the pervasive climate of fear that defined the Partition period.
In recent interviews, the cast emphasized the importance of showcasing human resilience amid chaos. "Even when the world collapsed around them, many chose humanity over hatred," said Azmi.
The film also benefits from the celebrated trio of Aamir Khan, A.R. Rahman and Javed Akhtar, who previously collaborated on the iconic "Lagaan." Their involvement, alongside producers Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, adds considerable star power to the project.
"Bantwara 1947" is slated for a worldwide theatrical debut on August 14, 2026, coinciding with the 79th anniversary of India’s independence and the historic Partition.
