Bank Issues Notice on Two Shahjahanpur Properties Owned by Actor

Central Bank of India has issued formal auction notices on two of Rajpal Yadav’s holdings in Shahjahanpur, the city where the actor’s family maintains a residence. The notice signals the bank’s intent to recover a pending loan of ₹16.61 crore.

The two assets include a downtown residential plot and a peripheral farmstead with an attached dwelling. Both have been assigned a minimum bid of ₹3.19 crore, and the bank plans to conduct an e‑auction on 9 September 2026.

The debt originated from funds advanced for the production of the movie “Ata Pata Lapata,” which did not perform as expected at the box office. Missed instalments and accumulating interest have now pushed the outstanding balance beyond the original loan amount.

Yadav had listed his wife’s and mother’s properties as guarantors when the loan was taken, prompting the bank to target those assets as part of its recovery strategy. The action follows a recent legal ruling that sentenced the actor to three months’ imprisonment for a cheque‑bounce offence.
