Bangalore SIR Process Issues Voter Registration: Prakash Raj Speaks Out

Prakash Raj, a well‑known film personality, took to Instagram on Tuesday to allege that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bangalore's voter list resulted in his removal from the register. He claimed that, out of the 6.5 million voters affected by the SIR, his voting eligibility was among those eliminated.

Describing the episode as a "joke", Raj highlighted the irony of being excluded from a constituency where he was born, educated, and has spent his entire career, including a stint as a Lok Sabha candidate.

He voiced his intention to investigate the official process for restoring his voter ID, seeking clarity on the required documentation and procedural steps. Raj warned that ruling parties might wield their power to disenfranchise certain individuals, but he urged citizens to challenge such tactics.

The actor concluded with a brief statement, "Just asking. Bye."

The controversy has reignited debate around the SIR exercise. The Election Commission asserts that deletions from the electoral roll are conducted in line with prescribed norms, typically involving deceased voters, permanent relocations, duplicate entries, or cases where an address cannot be verified after multiple attempts.
