The 1993 thriller *Baazigar* is celebrated as one of Shah Rukh Khan’s breakthrough movies, but its backstory involves actor‑turned‑director Deepak Tijori. Born in Mumbai in 1961, Tijori made his mark with supporting roles in *Aashiqui*, *Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar* and *Khiladi*.

Tijori revealed that his inspiration came from the 1991 American film *A Kiss Before Dying*. He suggested a Hindi version to the director pair Abbas‑Mustan, hoping to portray the anti‑hero himself. The idea was initially welcomed, and producer Pahlaj Nihalani was briefed on the project.
