Ayushmann Khurrana’s tribute sparks Amitabh’s flashback on Yash Chopra

When Ayushmann Khurrana visited KBC 18 to promote "UdaTa Teer", he chose an unexpected homage: a rendition of the classic "Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein". The gesture resonated with host Amitabh Bachchan, who recalled the era when he worked with Yash Chopra on two very different films.

Bachchan recounted that during the shoot of the romantic musical "Kabhi Kabhie", Yash Chopra was simultaneously steering the production of "Diwar", a stark courtroom drama starring Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor. The director’s capacity to oscillate between a love‑laden narrative and a gritty, law‑focused storyline impressed Bachchan, who praised Chopra’s adaptive spirit.

He added that the shift in mood was not limited to the scripts; Chopra would transform the set atmosphere, crew dynamics, and even his own demeanor to suit each film’s demands. The recollection emphasized how the director’s versatility left an indelible mark on the cast and crew.

The discussion also highlighted the stellar line‑ups of both movies, featuring veterans such as Waheeda Rehman, Rakesh Kapoor, and Nitu Singh, reinforcing Yash Chopra’s legacy as a filmmaker capable of spanning genres.
