Aura Tour Kickoff in Doubt as Delhi Police Refuse Nod
The opening date of Diljit Dosanjh's Aura Tour in Delhi is now uncertain after police in the capital refused to clear a planned concert, citing security considerations.
The October 30 show at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was meant to be the first stop of the Aura Tour in India. However, Delhi Police sources confirmed that permission for the event has not been granted due to security concerns.
No updates have been issued by the organisers regarding a new date, a different venue or any other arrangement for the Delhi show.
The event had earlier been planned for November 1. The date was then advanced to October 30 because of the sensitivity linked to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots anniversary. With the latest development, the concert has been postponed.
Diljit had also addressed the scale of Indian venues in September, when he spoke about his Ahmedabad concert at Narendra Modi Stadium on November 21. He noted that the world's largest stadium is in India and that a foreign band had filled it for a sold-out show. He argued that Punjabi performers should also be given the opportunity to play such venues.
The Aura World Tour aims to bring his live music and energy to fans across the country. Apart from Delhi, the schedule includes Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
Upcoming dates include Indore on November 15 at C21 Estate, Ahmedabad on November 21 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Mumbai on November 27 at Mahalaxmi Race Course, Bengaluru on November 29 at Nice Grounds and Chandigarh on December 5, where the venue is yet to be confirmed. The tour is co-produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live.
Diljit's popular songs include Born to Shine, G.O.A.T., Patiala Peg, Lover, Kinni Kinni, Do You Know, Laembadgini, Proper Patola, Ishq Di Baajiyan, Jind Mahi and Panj Tara. He has also made a mark in both Punjabi and Hindi films.
His 2024 Dil-Luminati Tour had already strengthened his global fan base, and his show at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, had been a sellout.
