Antara Banerjee Demands Media Verification After Photo Mishap
In Mumbai on August 17, actress Antara Banerjee confronted the media after her photo was mistakenly used in a report about an FIR that involved a model of the same first name. The actress said she was left in a state of shock and received a flood of calls from concerned relatives.
During a phone call, Banerjee opened a message that displayed her image attached to a story that was already being shared online. She described the situation as "extremely unsettling" and noted that it has added stress to her family, whose mother is ill and whose father resides in Kolkata.
Banerjee made it clear that the photo misuse is not intended to generate publicity. She wants the erroneous picture removed instantly to safeguard her image. "If the content is not corrected, we will pursue legal action," she said.
She appealed to journalists to verify photographs before publishing any piece, calling the lapse "irresponsible" and urging a more rigorous fact‑checking process across newsrooms.
