From Navy Officer to Iconic Lyricist: Anand Bakshi’s Early Journey

Born in Rawalpindi (now Pakistan), Anand Bakshi first served in the Royal Indian Navy, where he wrote poetry and songs during his tenure. Determined to follow his passion, he left the navy for Mumbai. After struggling financially, he got his first break with the film ‘Bhala Aadmi’, earning a modest Rs 150—an amount that launched a legendary career that later included hits for ‘Aradhana’, ‘Sholay’, ‘DDLJ’, and ‘Gadar’.
