‘Alpha’ Highlights Female‑Centric Storytelling, Says Anil Kapoor
Anil Kapoor, the seasoned actor known for his versatile career, used his Instagram account on July 18 to champion the importance of women‑centric narratives in Bollywood. While announcing the release of “Alpha,” he reiterated his belief that films should feature strong female leads whose perspectives shape the storyline.
He traced his journey from early works like “Judaai” and “Lamhe,” where women played pivotal roles, to recent productions such as “Khubsurat,” “Veere Di Wedding,” and “Crew.” In each case, Kapoor asserted, he supported characters that acted as the story’s axis.
The star linked his professional stance to personal experiences, describing his daughters Sonam and Riya and his wife as constant sources of inspiration. “Being the father of two formidable girls and the husband of a powerful woman makes me understand that women’s vigor fuels societal progress,” he wrote.
Kapoor also thanked his collaborators – Aditya Chopra, director Shiv, producer Bobby, Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and the entire YRF crew – for aligning with his vision. He believes that such a united approach is what enables ambitious projects like “Alpha,” the seventh entry in YRF’s spy franchise.
In “Alpha,” Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol portray central characters in a plot that follows an elite female assassin, raised in isolation by a rebellious commander. When a hidden family secret emerges, she joins forces with a sister she has not seen for years to pursue a revenge‑driven mission.
