Adrija Roy on Typecasting, Audience Acceptance and Choosing Roles with Heart

When asked whether a breakthrough role might pigeonhole an actor into similar parts, Roy admitted that typecasting is a natural consequence of popularity. She explained, "People tend to expect you to replicate a successful character because they cherish the performance. I don’t blame anyone for that expectation, but as an artist I constantly seek to surprise both myself and the audience with fresh portrayals." Roy stressed that each new role should serve as a learning opportunity and that she avoids repeating the same kind of character repeatedly.
