Abhishek and Shweta Reveal Bachchan Family WhatsApp Group Life

Mumbai: Abhishek and Shweta Bachchan shared some interesting details about their family's WhatsApp group while appearing on Karan Johar's chat show, Koffee With Karan.

Karan asked the siblings how the family interacts on the messaging app. Both said that their mother, Jaya Bachchan, a politician and actress, is the most active member of the group.

They said she begins her day by sending the family videos that often move them emotionally. Their father, Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, is quite active on X, which is reflected in the blogs he writes regularly. When it comes to WhatsApp, however, the veteran actor rarely engages.

According to Abhishek, reaching Big B on WhatsApp requires a different route. Family members have to alert him through SMS, after which he checks the WhatsApp messages. Aishwarya Rai is also largely inactive on the platform. Abhishek said she often takes considerable time to respond to calls or texts.

A unique family rule also came up during the conversation. Every member must update the group whenever they board a flight or land.

Abhishek recalled a funny episode when Jaya Bachchan informed the family in the afternoon that she had landed and reached home. Big B, true to form, read the message much later and replied, “Have a safe journey,” although she had already arrived home.

The chat also included playful moments. Karan asked Abhishek whether he feared his wife or his mother more. Abhishek named his mother, while Shweta quickly said his wife. Abhishek then told her that it was his rapid-fire round and asked her to stay quiet.
