Abhijeet Dipke Writes Open Letter to Diljit Dosanjh Over Remarks

Following Diljit Dosanjh's comments during his concert in New Delhi, activist Abhijeet Dipke shared a long note addressed to the singer on his social media account. The post was titled 'To Diljit Paaji'.

In the note, Dipke said he was somewhat hurt by Dosanjh's remarks during the June protests. He clarified that his disappointment was not based on any personal grievance with the singer. Instead, he said he had always viewed Dosanjh as someone who raises his voice in support of issues, as the singer himself had often said.

Dipke wrote that he had always been a fan of Dosanjh and that his admiration had not changed. He said he still listens to the singer's music. Shortly before returning to India in May, he attended Dosanjh's concert in Chicago, not only for the music but also because he deeply respects him as a person. He praised the singer's courage, honesty and the way he has taken Indian culture to a global stage while staying connected to his roots.

He added that the remark had troubled him precisely because he has always held Dosanjh in high regard. However, he said a difference of opinion or a misunderstanding would not reduce his respect or appreciation for the artist.

Signing off with a sense of brotherly affection, Dipke asked Dosanjh to consider the matter closed. He ended the note with a line from a Punjabi song, suggesting that a brave man speaks sweetly even to an enemy.
