The 2014 handwritten note from India’s nightingale to the new Prime Minister

When Narendra Modi assumed office in May 2014, Lata Mangeshkar penned a personal letter to convey her congratulations. She apologized for missing the swearing‑in ceremony due to a lingering illness, praised the nationwide enthusiasm for his leadership, and presented a small Ganesha figurine as a symbol of auspiciousness.
