1996 Mumbai concert: Sonali Bendre chose free tickets and family over star greeting

When Michael Jackson’s History World Tour made a stop in Mumbai in October 1996, Sonali Bendre was among the celebrities invited to welcome him. Rather than focusing on the chance to meet the legendary singer, Bendre was delighted about the free tickets she could give to relatives and friends. She also cherished the opportunity to wear a Navvari saree, a piece of clothing her grandmother used to wear, which she considered the most graceful attire. After the concert, the actress said the performance’s energy convinced her to become a fan of Jackson’s artistry.
