  • CG NEWS: Father and brother killed drunken son, were troubled by daily fights, both accused arrested

  • There is only 1 college for the disabled in Chhattisgarh, there are no schools either… The disabled are asking- I am disabled, do I not have the right to study and write?

Satyapal Singh Rajput, Raipur. I am a Divyang, do I not have the right to study and write? Do I not have the right to shape my future? These are the questions of those Divyangs who are not able to get school education and higher education in their own state. Although there are schools for Divyangs in 21 districts of the state, but the facilities there are nominal. There is only one college in the state for higher education. There are only 120 seats in the said college, in which about 25-30 percent seats are given to students from other states. Whereas the number of Divyangs in the state is more than 7 lakh. Now you can guess how many Divyangs in the state have to wander from door to door for higher education.

Lalluram asked a direct question to the minister…

Lalluram.com asked a direct question to Social Welfare Minister Lakshmi Rajwada on this problem of the disabled. In response, the minister said that the previous government did nothing for the disabled, now we are constantly planning that good and professional education will be given to disabled children. I will also discuss this with the CM as soon as possible.

Colleges will be opened in all divisions. Minister Laxmi Rajwade said that very soon colleges will be opened in all divisions. Where not only good education but also vocational education will be provided to the disabled.

This is the only arrangement for the disabled in the stateChhattisgarh is 23 years old, 33 districts have been formed but till now there is only one college for the disabled in the state and special schools for disabled have been opened in 21 districts but even in those there are not enough seats, there is a need to increase the seats. Even now in 12 districts the disabled are waiting for schools. College is like the Eid moon which one can see in the name of filling the application during admission but cannot study there because there are not enough seats.

There is a problem of classes in schools too. In the current system, schools for the disabled are run in 21 districts. In some districts, there are schools only till 5th standard, in some districts, there are schools only till 8th standard and only a few schools have education up to 12th standard. In such a situation, thousands of disabled children are not able to study. On one hand, where there is no education for higher classes, hundreds of children are leaving their studies because they do not have any option.

Only one college in Chhattisgarh. Education up to 12th standard is imparted in three schools of the state. Even there, disabled students do not have the opportunity to study according to their choice. They have to study the course offered there. Education up to 12th standard is imparted in three districts of the state, Raipur, Bilaspur and Jagdalpur. In which about 200 students pass but Raipur has a college with 120 seats. In this way, students are not able to study further even if they want to because Raipur is the only college in the whole of Chhattisgarh where students from other states study and are not able to study even if they want to because the seats are full.

When will the number of schools increase? Minister Laxmi Rajwade said that the proposal has been sent and schools will open in the districts very soon. So that children do not have to go far and complete their school education in their own district.

Need to increase seats in the existing system: Until a new system is in place, there is a need to increase seats in schools for the disabled in 21 districts. It is also important to ensure that education up to 12th standard is provided in schools in all districts. This is because education up to 12th standard is provided in only three districts. Disabled children cannot study from home like normal children. This is why there are residential complexes and due to less seats there, disabled children are not able to study.
