  • Kingmaker Politics: What Do Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP, Nitish Kumar’s JDU Want From Modi 3.0? |

The Lok Sabha elections are done and dusted, but the anticipation for the 2024 cabinet members is continuous. However, all the NDA leaders selected the Prime Minister as their PM candidate unanimously, and the demands from the branded ‘Kingmakers’ are yet to be fulfilled.

After the unforeseen poll verdict, two parties, Nitish Kumar’s JDU and N Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP, with 12 and 16 seats, respectively, emerged as the highly demanded parties, with both the NDA and INDIA bloc seeking their loyalty.

Although Kumar and Naidu have pledged their allegiances to the NDA, they do possess adept negotiation skills and understand the importance of leveraging their support. Had the BJP achieved a majority independently, allies would have had to accept whatever they were offered. Yet, with the numbers falling short of a clear majority, a strategic opportunity has emerged, one that these seasoned politicians are poised to seize.

Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party has asked for two ministries along with the position of Lok Sabha House speaker in exchange for his party’s commitment, reports indicated.

Meanwhile, JDU leader KC Tyagi, while talking to the media, said that Bihar requires special status for the state. He expressed the expectation that, considering the significant support received from Bihar, the new government would take the initiative to grant Bihar special status and conduct a nationwide caste census. However, he added that JDU’s support for the NDA is unconditional.

A preferential status for Andhra Pradesh is another key issue that may come up in the negotiations. In fact, it was a dispute over a special status demand that prompted Mr Naidu to part ways with the BJP in 2016.

  • Congress Lok Sabha Election Winners Candidate FULL List 2024: Check Constituency Wise Full List Of Winners Candidate Name Total Vote Margin and More |

The Indian National Congress (INC), which has strong roots in India’s political history, is preparing for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. The party that carried the country to independence and shaped its early years has had fluctuating electoral fortunes over the decades.

In the first general election of 1951-52, the INC won 364 seats. This supremacy lasted into the 1960s, with the party winning a majority in every election. However, the 1967 elections represented a watershed moment, as the INC’s seat count fell below 300 for the first time, winning 283 out of 520 seats.

In recent years, the Congress has faced challenges in the form of electoral defeats and internal restructuring. However, the party continues to hold substantial influence in various regions and remains a central figure in the opposition alliance.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Indian National Congress (INC) faced a significant setback, securing only 52 seats. This result was a stark contrast to its historical performance, where it often led with a majority. As the Lok Sabha elections 2024 draw near, the INC’s campaign is expected to focus on key issues such as economic growth, social justice, and national unity.

  • ‘West Bengal, Haryana, and Rajasthan Rejected BJP,’ Says Congress Leader Sachin Pilot |

New Delhi: In the Lok Sabha election 2024, the BJP-led NDA alliance fell short of gaining the expected numbers after which Congress leader Sachin Pilot said that states like West Bengal, Haryana, and Rajasthan rejected BJP. The Pilot alleged that the people didn’t like the BJP’s narrative of “Mandir-Masjid” and “Hindu-Muslim”.

“The states in which the BJP expected to increase its numbers, like West Bengal, Haryana and Rajasthan, the people have rejected them there… The issues we brought up were liked by the people… Our narrative was optimistic, BJP’s narrative was Mandir-Masjid, Hindu-Muslim and Mangalsutra. The people may have not liked it,” Pilot said while talking to ANI.

Responding to the party’s further strategies, the Congress leader said that the alliance has to make the political decisions.

“The public has given a clear message to the ruling party that the kind of governance they were giving, is not acceptable and that is why their total tally has dropped to 60 to 65 seats. It’s a political message from the public through EVM and BJP should introspect this,” he further added.

The final count for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections concluded on June 3, BJP secured 240, far fewer than had been expected, while, Congress secured 99 seats which is the highest tally since the 2014 Lok Sabha Election.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term but this time BJP will need the support of other parties like JD (U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP’s chief Chandrababu Naidu to reach the majority mark and form a government.
