  • Delhi CM Kejriwal Granted Bail In Money Laundering Case Linked To Alleged Excise Scam |

    New Delhi: A Delhi Court on Thursday granted bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy case. The Delhi court also declines ED’s prayer to stay Arvind Kejriwal’s bail order for 48 hours. Special Judge Niyay Bindu granted the AAP leader relief on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. The judge issued the order after hearing arguments from the prosecution and defence counsel on Kejriwal’s application for regular bail.

    Before providing the AAP leader with the relief, the court did, however, place some restrictions on him, such as a promise not to interfere with the investigation or sway the witnesses. In addition, the judge gave Kejriwal instructions to assist with the investigation and show up in court as needed.

    After hearing from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which aimed to connect Kejriwal to the purported proceeds of crime and co-accused, and the defence, which contended that the prosecution lacked sufficient evidence to convict the AAP leader, the judge had earlier in the day reserved the order.

    The Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and another accused Vinod Chauhan till July 3 in a money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise policy.

    In the video, the man is seen on his scooter wet with a makeshift shower installed. The video records him enjoying the idea and technique to skip out in blazing temperature.

    As the man rode out in a public area, the People around were seen entertained by the event while many of them recorded the shower man on their mobile phones.

    The Video was aired on several media sites. It was posted on Instagram by fun.with.singh with the caption, “Go Garmi” and it went viral on the internet within a few days.

    Netizens have dropped over ninety thousand likes while over ten thousand comments on the post. The online users were influenced by the event and shared their emotions on the video through numerous comments and emojis, especially laughing ones.

    One of the users commented, “Very Good” after seeing the video.

    Another user was truly impressed by the technique and thereafter commented, “This is a really wonderful idea to remove heat.”

    One netizen said, “Will at least he has a solution to the problem”

    Many of the social media users were dropping laughter emojis as they found the video extremely funny.

     

  • Supreme Court Seeks Centre, NTA Response On Petitions Calling For NEET-UG 2024 Cancellation |

    NEET-UG Controversy: The Supreme Court on Thursday sought response from the Centre, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and others regarding petitions calling for the cancellation of NEET-UG 2024 and a court-supervised investigation into alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination. 

    A vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and SVN Bhatti also sought response from the involved parties regarding separate requests made by the NTA to transfer some ongoing cases from the high courts to the apex court. 

    These pleas filed by NTA and other petitioners is scheduled for hearing on July 8. 

    One of the petitions, filed by 20 students who appeared for the medical entrance exam filled a petition requesting for the NTA for re-conduction of examination. 

    Earlier on June 18, during the hearing of separate pleas on NEET-UG 2024 examinations, the apex court said that even if there was a ‘0.001% negligence’ on anyone’s part, it will be investigated. 

    Last week, while addressing separate petitions concerning issues with NEET-UG 2024, the Supreme Court requested responses from the Centre and the NTA regarding a plea for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into allegations of a question paper leak and other exam irregularities. 

    The NTA conducts all India pre-medical entrance exam along with several other important and entrance level tests. The exam was held on May 5 across 4,750 centres with 24 lakh candidates appearing for it. 

    On June 19 the NTA announced the cancellation of UGC-NET exams due to concerns regarding ‘integrity compromise.’  

    While hearing separate petitions raising grievances over the NEET-UG 2024, the apex court had last week sought responses from the Centre and the NTA on a plea for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into allegations of question paper leak and other irregularities in the exam.

    Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the government after the Education Ministry ordered the cancellation of UGC-NET and asked for accountability to be fixed. In a post in Hindi on X, Kharge said, “Narendra Modi ji, you discuss exams a lot, but when will you hold ‘NEET pareeksha pe charcha’. Cancellation of UGC-NET exam is a victory of the passion of lakhs of students,” he said

    “This is the defeat of Modi government’s arrogance due to which they made a despicable attempt to trample the future of our youth,” he added. Kharge said the Union education minister first says that no paper was leaked in NEET, but when arrests of education mafia were made in Bihar, Gujarat and Haryana, then the minister “accepts that some scam” has happened.

    “When will NEET exam be cancelled?” he asked. “Modi ji, take responsibility to stop your government’s rigging and paper leak in NEET exam too,” Kharge said. The Congress alleged that the Modi government is playing with the future of the youth.

    “Yesterday UGC-NET exam was conducted in various cities of the country. Today the exam was cancelled on suspicion of paper leak. First NEET paper was leaked and now UGC-NET paper. The Modi government has become a ‘paper leak government’,” the party said on X.

    Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi also alleged that the BJP government’s “corruption and laxity” is harmful for the youth. “After the news of scam in NEET exam, now the NET exam held on 18th June has also been cancelled due to the fear of irregularities. Will accountability be fixed now? Will the Education Minister take responsibility for this laxity?” Vadra asked in a post in Hindi.

    The Union Education Ministry late on Wednesday night ordered cancellation of UGC-NET following inputs of exam’s integrity being compromised.

    He Was Writhing, GRP Officers Kept Filming

    This incident took place at Kanpur Central, one of the five central railway stations in the country. Head Constable Brij Kishore Singh, posted at the police line, had taken a three-day leave and arrived at the station to go home to Jhansi. It was noon, and the heat was intense. As soon as Singh entered the Kanpur Central campus, he felt dizzy and collapsed.

    The Government Railway Police (GRP) were informed about Singh lying unconscious. An officer arrived but instead of providing first aid, he pulled out his phone and started filming. When he didn’t get the right angle, he filmed from another.

    During this time, Singh’s breaths grew labored. Onlookers reprimanded the officer, who then took Singh to the hospital. By then, it was too late. Singh had succumbed to heat stroke, and perhaps humanity had too. The video circulating on social media is so insensitive that we cannot show it to you. Zee News does not confirm the authenticity of the viral video.

    What Hope Do Ordinary Citizens Have?

    It seems highly inhumane for one uniformed officer to treat another this way. By filming, what evidence was the GRP officer trying to gather that he couldn’t think to help the suffering policeman? Fortunately, some passengers showed some courage and reminded the officer of his ‘duty.’

    The eyewitnesses must have put themselves in dying BK Singh’s place for a moment, feeling a chill even in the intense heat. When one police officer doesn’t care about another’s life, what hope does an ordinary citizen have?

  • Post-Poll Violence: No Reservation If Central Forces’ Stay In Bengal Extended, Home Ministry To HC |

    The Union Home Ministry on Tuesday informed the Calcutta High Court that it has no reservation if the deployment of central forces in West Bengal is extended if the situation demands in the light of allegations of post-poll violence in the state.

    The court directed the Centre and the West Bengal government to assess the situation following the charges of post-poll violence as made by petitioners and disclose all relevant facts relating to these on the next date of hearing on June 21.

    During the hearing, Additional Solicitor General Asok Chakrabarti, representing the Union Home Ministry, submitted before the court that it has no reservations about extending deployment of central forces in the state if the situation demands.

    The counsel for Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, one of the petitioners in two PILs, submitted that a report by the West Bengal government states that till June 12, a total of 107 FIRs have been lodged and that 18 of these are not related to post-poll violence, claiming that thus it admits that post-poll violence was indeed occurring in the state.

    The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal concluded on June 1 and results were declared on June 4.

    A division bench presided by Justice Harish Tandon directed that the matter be listed for hearing again on June 21, till which date the central forces have already been directed by the court to stay put in Bengal.

    It was alleged by Adhikari and lawyer Priyanka Tibrewal in their separate PILs that people belonging to a particular political party were being subjected to atrocities following the conclusion of the Lok Sabha election process.

    The division bench, also comprising Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya, said that its main concern is the safety and security of the citizens as serious allegations have been made by the petitioners in the PILs.

    Appearing for the state, Advocate General Kishore Dutta said that the state government was doing its job in maintaining law and order.

    Petitioner-lawyer Priyanka Tibrewal claimed that she has a list of 250 people who were ousted from their homes for their political beliefs and were staying in a dharamshala in Kolkata.

    She sought to submit a supplementary affidavit in this regard before the court on the next date of hearing.

    Shillong Teer is a lottery game in which tickets ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 100 can be purchased. Sales start at 10 a.m., Monday to Sunday. Players must guess the number of arrows shot by 50 archers in the first and second rounds at Shillong’s Polo Ground in two minutes, with a maximum of 30 and 20 arrows respectively. Meghalaya has about 5,000 ticket counters distributed across 11 districts.

    In a single day, the player must guess the last two digits of the total number of arrows shot and hit the target. The winner of the lottery is the individual who correctly predicts the number. Every day, 50 archers shoot 30 arrows in the first round and just 20 arrows in the second.
