  • Chennai: Eight-Month-Old Infant Falls On Tin Roof From Balcony; Watch Dramatic Rescue Video |

Dramatic and terrifying footage has gone viral on social media from an apartment complex in Avadi of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In the video, an infant was seen lying on the edge of a tin roof after falling from a balcony. In the viral video, people can be seen holding a bedsheet open on the ground to catch the child if she falls. People were also seen risking their lives by climbing atop the balcony to save the child.

The three-minute-long viral video shows the dramatic rescue of the child who fell from the fourth-floor balcony and landed on a tin shade on the second floor. The clip was recorded by another resident of the same complex. In the video, eight-month-old Harin Magi can be seen lying on her hands and knees near the edge of a tin shade. A slighter movement would have led to her fall from there.

While the screams of residents can be heard in the video, three men climbed up from a first-floor window to grab the child. A mattress was placed underneath the bedsheet to ensure the infant didn’t get hurt.

As the tension mounts in the video, the baby edges nearer to the roof’s edge, her tiny legs nearly dangling over the abyss. Shrieks intensify as a man emerges from a first-floor window, balancing on the railing to reach for the child. With two others steadying him, he extends his arm, snatches the infant, and safely transfers her to a waiting figure indoors.

This comes days after a video went viral in which a mother was seen placing her infant inside a fridge unknowingly while talking on her phone. The video that went viral days ago shows the parents searching for their child impatiently.

  • ‘Can They Provide Safety….’: PM Modi Hits Out At Congress Over Karnataka College Girl Murder |

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the ruling party in Karnataka and questioned the public he was addressing in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada if Congress can provide safety to the girl in the state.

PM Modi attacked Congress over the recent murder of a Hubballi student, Neha Hiremath, at her college premises that created “sensation” in the country, he said, the family sought action, but the Congress government gave priority to appeasement.

“For them, the lives of daughters like Neha have no value, they think only about their vote bank. Can Congress ever provide safety to your daughters?  In a college campus, in daylight, such dare, they who committed crime know that those hungry for vote bank will save them in a few days.”

#WATCH Uttara Kannada, Karnataka: PM Narendra Modi while addressing the public meeting in Sirsi says, “A few days back, what happened to a daughter in Hubballi, the entire nation is worried about it… In a college campus, in daylight, such dare, they who committed crime know… pic.twitter.com/Gze3YFHUoW

“Even when there was a bomb blast in a Bengaluru’s cafe, the Congress government did not take it seriously initially; they even termed it a cylinder blast initially. “Why are you — Congress — lying to the people of the country, if you can’t, leave and go home,” Modi said.

The Congress for the sake of votes is taking support of banned PFI — the anti-national organisation that supported terrorism. “To win one seat in Wayanad, are you surrendering to them? BJP has banned PFI and has put its leaders behind bars.” he said.

  • Who Is Deepak Babaria? The AICC Gen Secy ‘Behind’ Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely’s Resignation |

Arvinder Singh Lovely, the Delhi Congress chief, has resigned. This move deals a significant blow to the Congress party during the Lok Sabha elections. Lovely attributed his decision to an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Deepak Babaria, the AICC Delhi incharge. On Wednesday, Arvinder Singh Lovely expressed his displeasure with the Congress general secretary’s performance in a four-page letter to party president Mallikarjun Kharge.

The Congress Delhi Chief said, “the AICC state in-charge Deepak Babaria is not allowing me to work…he is not permitted to make any appointments in the state.” The in-charge forcibly suspended Rajkumar Chauhan and other senior leaders. “The in-charge got into a fight with Sandeep Dixit and senior leaders.”

He stated, “The AICC general secretary (Delhi in-charge) has unilaterally vetoed all unanimous decisions made by senior Delhi Congress leaders.” Since my appointment as DPCC president, the AICC general secretary has prohibited me from making any senior appointments within the DPCC. My request to appoint a veteran leader as DPCC’s media head was flatly denied. To date, the AICC general secretary has refused to allow the DPCC to appoint all block presidents in the city, leaving more than 150 blocks in Delhi without block presidents.

    Who Is Deepak Babaria?

Deepak Babaria is the AICC’s general secretary (in charge of Delhi). Babaria, a Gujarat-based leader, began his Congress career in the 1970s with the NSUI and Youth Congress.

He was handpicked by Rahul Gandhi for various responsibilities. Rahul Gandhi handpicked him for various responsibilities. Babaria, known as a close confidante of AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi, is currently in charge of the party’s Delhi and Haryana units. He has also served as the AICC General Secretary in charge of Madhya Pradesh. Babaria had previously been in charge of Kerala.

Arvinder Cites AAP Alliance As Reason Behind His Resignation

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the party’s alliance with the Aam Adami Party (AAP) in the national capital, he stated, “The Delhi Congress unit was opposed to an alliance with a party that was formed solely on the basis of levelling false, fabricated, and mala fide corruption charges against the Congress party, and whose half-cabinet minister is currently in jail on corruption charges. Despite that, the party decided to ally with AAP in Delhi.”

Lovely expressed his dissatisfaction with the selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections for the Delhi seat. Despite this, the party chose to align with the AAP in Delhi.”

He stated, “…given the limited number of seats granted to the Congress party in the alliance in Delhi, in the interest of the party in Delhi and to ensure that the tickets are allotted to senior Congress colleagues, I publicly withdrew my name and opted out of being considered as a potential candidate.” While rejecting the views of the DPCC, all observers, and local party workers, the North-West and Northeast Delhi seats were given to two candidates who were complete strangers to the Delhi Congress and party.”

  • ‘No Proof That AAP Received Kickbacks’: Arvind Kejriwal Responds To ED’s Allegations In Delhi Liquor Policy Case |

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday filed his response to the Enforcement Directorate’s affidavit in the Supreme Court, saying that there is no proof that AAP received funds or advanced kickbacks in connection with the ongoing probe into the liquor policy case. In his reply, the AAP chief stated that the mode, manner, and timing of his arrest just before when the schedule of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 was announced and the Model Code of Conduct had come into force speaks volumes about the arbitrariness of the ED.

The jailed Delhi Chief Minister further claimed that there exists no proof or material demonstrating that the AAP received funds or advanced kickbacks from the South group, let alone utilising them in the Goa election campaign.

“Not a single rupee was traced back to the AAP, and the allegations put forth in this regard are devoid of any tangible evidence, rendering them vague, baseless without any corroboration,” Arvind Kejriwal said in his affidavit.

Kejriwal also accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of acting in a “most highhanded manner” in a money-laundering case stemming from the alleged excise policy scam. In a rejoinder to the ED’s reply affidavit filed on his petition challenging his arrest in the case, Kejriwal said he has always cooperated with the investigation.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor said the ED, in its reply affidavit filed in the apex court, has said that one of the reasons which necessitated his arrest was that he did not remain present before the investigating officer (IO) despite being summoned nine times.

Kejriwal said the ED has said in its reply that in such a case, the IO was justified in forming an opinion that custodial interrogation would lead to “a qualitatively more elicitation orientated” questioning of the accused.

“The aforementioned tenor, text and contents of the reply leave no manner of doubt that the ED has acted in a most highhanded manner in a gross affront to the due process of law,” he said.

Kejriwal further claimed that a cumulative reading of the ED’s stand in its reply would expose the “bogey and blatant falsehood” in the conduct of its proceedings. The AAP supremo said the record would reveal that each and every summons issued to him was duly responded to while seeking vital details and information, which under no circumstances can be claimed to be privileged or confidential by the ED.

Kejriwal claimed that the ED has never spelt out the alleged non-cooperation by him. “What was the requirement in not calling the petitioner (Kejriwal) either through an authorised agent or seeking information or documents from him in writing or through a virtual mode and insisting on his presence physically in person, is not forthcoming,” he said.

Kejriwal maintained that his plea deserves to be allowed and he is entitled to be released forthwith.

  • CBSE Board Exams To Be Conducted Twice A Year From 2025-26? |

New Delhi: The Ministry of Education has asked the CBSE to work out logistics for conducting board exams twice a year from the 2025-26 academic session, according to sources. The plan for introducing a semester system has been ruled out, they said. The ministry and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold consultations with school principals next month for conducting board exams twice a year, the sources said.

The CBSE is currently in the process of working out the modalities of how will the academic calendar be structured to accommodate another set of board exams without impacting the undergraduate admission schedule.

“The ministry has asked the CBSE to work on the logistics of how will board exams be conducted twice a year. The board is working out the modalities and a consultation will be organised next month with school principals,” a source said.

“The idea being explored is to conduct two editions of the board exams at the end of the year from the 2025-26 academic session but the modalities still need to be worked out. However, there is no plan to implement the semester system,” the source added.

The ministry’s plan was to conduct biannual board exams from the 2024-25 academic session, however, it has been pushed back by a year. The new national curriculum framework (NCF), prepared by the Union government-appointed national steering company which was led by former ISRO chairman K Kasturirangan in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. NCP proposed a semester system for students of classes 11 and 12.

The framework, which was released by the ministry in August last year, also proposed that the students be given the option to write their board exams twice a year.
“The CBSE right now is brainstorming on the schedule so students can get maximum benefit and the goal of making board exams stress-free can be achieved. However, logistics is a challenge which needs to be addressed, conducting exams is tiresome so the plan has to be flawless,” the source said.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had last October told PTI in an interview that appearing for board exams twice a year won’t be mandatory for students.
“The students will have the option of appearing for the (class 10 and 12 board) exams twice a year just like the engineering entrance exam JEE. They can choose the best score… but it will be completely optional, no compulsion,” he had said. However, this is not the first attempt at reforming board exams. The Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) was introduced for Class 10 in 2009 but was revoked in 2017 and the board reverted to the old model of year-end exams.

The board exams for classes 10 and 12 were also split into two terms during the Covid pandemic as a one-time measure, but the old format of year-end exams resumed this year.

New Delhi: Amid a handful of incidents of scuffle and a few complaints to the Election Commission, the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 concluded on Friday with a provisional voter turnout of 64.2. The poll panel described the voting as “peaceful”.

In the second phase, over 15.88 crore voters, including 8.08 crore males, 7.8 crore females and 5,929 third gender were eligible to vote.

Voters of two polling stations in Assam’s Silchar constituency boycotted polling over development issues. The electorate of 110 Durganar Bagan lower primary school and Chittaranjan lane did not participate in the polling process.

Cricketing icons Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and Javagal Srinath were seen voting at different polling stations in Bengaluru, however, nearly half of its voters did not turn up to cast their vote. The approximate voter turnout in Bangalore Central was 52.81 per cent, Bangalore North – 54.42 per cent and Bangalore South – 53.15 per cent.

According to the voter turnout figures shared by the district information office, Gautam Buddh Nagar constituency recorded a poll percentage of 53.30 down from 60.47 per cent in 2019 elections

In Bihar, the polling time was extended till 6 pm at many polling stations in Banka, Madhepura, Khagaria and Munger constituencies to facilitate the voters in hot weather conditions. Special arrangements were made to combat the heat, including provision of ‘shamiyana’, drinking water, medical kits and fans for the convenience of the voters

In phase two, the EC said, voters from 46 villages in Bastar and Kanker constituencies in Chhattisgarh cast their vote in a polling booth set up in their own village for the first time in a Lok Sabha election.

Rajasthan recorded a tentatively 61.60 per cent voter turnout as 25 Lok Sabha seats went for polls in the second phase of general elections. A 108-year-old woman, Bhuri Bai, cast her vote at the Gunjara polling booth in the Kota-Bundi constituency. She was brought to the polling booth in a wheelchair by her family members.

Lok Sabha Polls Phase II: 2024 VS 2019

In the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 held in 95 constituencies across 13 states, the turnout was 67.6 per cent while the second leg of the 2024 general elections witnessed a decline in voter turnout nearly by 3% and stood at 64.2.

In the first phase, the turnout was 65.5 per cent compared to 69.43 per cent in phase one of the 2019 parliamentary polls. Some of the constituencies were different then and the total number of seats which went to poll was 91.

The heat wave is believed to have contributed towards several voters not turning up at polling stations in both the phases.
