  • BJP Conspired To End Shivraj Singh’s Political Career, Claims Congress’ Banna Gupta |

New Delhi: Congress leader and Jharkhand Cabinet Minister Banna Gupta on Wednesday alleged the Bharatiya Janata Party for conspiring against Shivraj Singh Chauhan to end his political career.

Speaking with ANI, Banna Gupta said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party has conspired against Shivraj Singh Chauhan to end his political career, but it was the public of Madhya Pradesh which made him victorious again by 8 lakh votes.”

He further added, “When BJP saw his popularity and felt difficult to end his career, they placed him in the Modi 3.0 cabinet and made him in charge of Jharkhand. But BJP’s formulas and tactics will not work in Jharkhand because of their ill deeds.

“They tried to diminish the constitution, in 2018 they tried to change the SC-ST law and now they were trying to turn the democracy into indentured labour. Their narrative was spotted by everyone in Jharkhand and in the whole nation. This is the reason behind the destruction of their 400-paar agenda and they were left with only 241 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024,” said Banna Gupta.

The reaction came after BJP’s senior leader and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was made the in-charge and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma co-in-charge of Jharkhand BJP in the run-up to the upcoming state assembly elections.

Earlier, on June 10, after the swearing-in of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Kalpana Soren as MLA from Gandey assembly constituency, Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta expressed confidence that JMM will form government in Jharkhand again with full majority.

Banna Gupta said, “Kalpana Soren is a very intelligent, educated woman. She was a housewife but after the way her husband was humiliated, tortured and sent to jail, she came out to fulfil her husband’s responsibility and protect the people. She has won the election from Gandey. In the coming time, our government will be formed again in Jharkhand and it will be with full majority.”

He further said that the focus of the JMM government was to give jobs to the youth.”Whether it is the Surgeon pension scheme, Old pension scheme, or Jal Samriddhi Yojana we have done a lot of public-centric work. Our focus is on employment to the youth and we have prepared a lot of schemes to provide them jobs,” he added.

  • TDP-Led Andhra Govt Demolishes YSRCP Headquarters, Ex-CM Jagan Calls It ‘Naidu’s Vendetta Politics’ |

Municipal authorities razed the YSR Congress Party’s under-construction central headquarters in Tadepalli, Guntur district, early Saturday on allegations that it was illegal. The Mangalagiri-Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC) began demolition with excavators and bulldozers at around 5:30 a.m. The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) had notified the opposition party about the alleged illegal construction.

On Friday, the YSRCP filed a petition in the High Court contesting the CRDA office. According to a party spokesperson, the court ordered a halt to all demolition operations, which the YSRCP’s counsel transmitted to the CRDA Commissioner.

Officials from the CRDA and MTMC stated that the irrigation department’s land was being used to build the YSRCP office. There have been claims that the boatyard land was leased for a nominal sum during the tenure of the former Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP government. Additionally, there were claims that the building was started without first obtaining CRDA and MTMC approval.

    Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, former chief minister and YSRCP president, has attacked the TDP-led government’s actions. In his post on ‘X’, he claimed that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had turned to political vendetta. He said that a tyrant used bulldozers to demolish the YSRCP’s central headquarters, despite the High Court’s rulings.

According to Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu’s actions were a message about how his administration would be for the next five years. However, the YSRCP Chief stated that the party would not be intimidated by these threats or political vendettas. He promised to fight for the people’s rights and urged all democratic forces in the country to reject Chandrababu Naidu’s actions.

  • Hindujas, UK’s Richest Family, Challenges Swiss Court Jail Sentences, Denies Human Trafficking |

The Hindujas, Britain’s wealthiest family, on Friday said they were apalled by a Swiss court’s decision to impose jail sentences on some members in Geneva. They have filed an appeal in a higher court to challenge the verdict that found them guilty of exploiting vulnerable domestic workers.

A statement released by the family’s Swiss lawyers emphasized that their clients—Prakash and Kamal Hinduja, both in their seventies, and their son Ajay along with his wife Namrata—were cleared of all human trafficking charges. They also refuted reports suggesting any family members were facing imprisonment, despite court reports from Geneva indicating sentences of four to four and a half years.

The statement, signed by lawyers Yael Hayat, Robert Assael, and Roman Jordan, declared, “Our clients have been acquitted of all human trafficking charges. We are dismayed by the remaining decision of this first-instance court, and have naturally filed an appeal to the higher court, rendering this portion of the judgment non-effective.”

They further clarified, “According to Swiss law, the presumption of innocence remains until a final judgment by the supreme adjudicating body is executed. Contrary to certain media claims, no family members are currently detained.”

The lawyers also noted that the plaintiffs had retracted their complaints, affirming to the court their lack of intention to be involved in such legal actions.

Concluding the statement, they expressed, “The family trusts the legal system and is confident that the truth will emerge victorious.”

This announcement came after a session in Geneva, where prosecutors initiated proceedings for alleged illicit activities, including exploitation, human trafficking, and breaches of Swiss labor laws, against the family members who were charged with confiscating workers’ passports and preventing them from leaving.
