  • LS Polls 2024: EC Asks Congress’ Jairam Ramesh To Share Details Of Amit Shah’s Pre-Counting Day Calls To DMs |

New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) sought factual information from Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Sunday on his claim that Home Minister Amit Shah has called up 150 district magistrates and collectors ahead of the June 4 counting of votes for the Lok Sabha polls. In a letter to Ramesh, the poll panel has asked him to share details regarding his claim by 7 pm on Sunday.

The EC has referred to his post on X on June 1, in which the Congress general secretary had alleged that “the outgoing Home Minister has been calling up DMs/Collectors. So far, he has spoken to 150 of them. This is blatant and brazen intimidation, showing how desperate the BJP is….”

The process of counting votes is a sacred duty cast upon every returning officer and such public statements “tend to put an element of doubt and thus, deserves to be addressed in larger public interest”, the EC has told Ramesh.

It has also told the Congress leader that when the Model Code of Conduct is in force, all officers are under the deemed deputation of the commission and they report directly to the poll watchdog for any directions.

“However, no DM has reported any such undue influence as alleged by you…,” the EC’s letter to Ramesh has stated.

“It is requested that details of 150 DMs to whom such calls have been allegedly made by the Home Minister along with the factual matrix/basis of your information are shared by 7 pm today — June 2, 2024, so that appropriate action can be taken,” it has told the Congress leader.

It has said that being a responsible, experienced and very senior leader of a national party, Ramesh must have made such a public statement ahead of the counting day on the basis of facts or information he believes to be true.

  • Bhopal Horror! Man Strangulates Wife Over Suspected Affair; Takes Body In Auto To Burn, Buries Later – Chilling Details |

Bhopal: A 26-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death after suspecting her of having an affair, took the body in his auto-rickshaw, burnt it and then buried it near a dump yard in Bhopal, police said on Sunday. The incident took place on May 21 and the man, identified as Nadeem Uddin, was arrested on Saturday, said Nishatpura police station sub-inspector MD Ahirwar, who is the investigation officer in the case.

The police have also recovered some unburnt body parts of the 22-year-old victim and sent them for an examination, he said. The woman was staying at her parents’ home in Murli Nagar after her relationship with her husband turned sour, he said.

She went missing on May 21 following which her parents lodged a police complaint. The Nishatpura police started an investigation and picked up the man who, during questioning, admitted to have killed his wife, the official said. The accused told the police he suspected his wife was in a relationship with another man, he said.

On May 21, the accused called his wife on her mobile phone and asked her to come to Karond crossing. When she met him, the accused took her mobile phone and after seeing a video in it, he got angry and in a fit of rage, he allegedly strangled her to death, Ahirwar said.

He then took the body in his auto-rickshaw to a spot about 2 km away and burnt it after pouring kerosene on it at a waste dump where later buried it, the official said. Some unburnt body parts have been recovered and sent for an examination, he said. The accused has been booked under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder) and other charges, the official said.

The police were interrogating the accused and conducting further investigation into the case, he added.

  • Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Delhi CM Will Surrender At 3 PM, Will Return To Tihar Jail Today | Top Developments |

Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: June 2 is here and that is when Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is all set to return to Tihar Jail. Delhi CM was denied immediate relief on his interim bail plea by a Delhi court. Although, the court has postponed its decision on the plea until June 5.

June 2 – Eventful Day Ahead

In a press conference, Mr. Kejriwal said, “The day after tomorrow, I will leave my house (on June 2) around 3 pm to surrender. We are fighting against tyranny, and if I have to sacrifice my life for the country, do not mourn.”

ED Arrested Delhi CM On March 21

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

Kejriwal Was Granted Temporary Bail On May 10

He was granted temporary bail by the Supreme Court on May 10, which lasted until June 1, allowing him to campaign for the elections. He was instructed to surrender on June 2.

    SC Declines Kejriwal’s Extension Request

The Supreme Court declined to list Delhi CM’s plea for an extension of the interim bail on May 28, stating that “no reasonable cause or grounds” were presented to entertain his application. The Supreme Court had previously suggested that Kejriwal could apply for bail while reserving its order on his petition challenging his arrest by the ED.

    Plea To Rouse Avenue Court

Kejriwal submitted two pleas to the Rouse Avenue Court: one for a seven-day interim bail to undergo medical tests, and another for regular bail in the money laundering case filed by the ED. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has reserved its verdict on the request.

Kejriwal filed interim bail plea on medical grounds. He cited fluctuating sugar levels and increased ketone levels, which could indicate diabetic ketoacidosis, a potentially fatal complication. Various tests, including a PET scan, LFT, KFT, CBC, and Holter test, needed to be conducted, which could take up to a week.

ED Attacks Kejriwal Over Plea Request

The ED argued in court on Saturday that Kejriwal’s interim bail plea was not maintainable as he was already out on bail. Additional Solicitor General S V Raju and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta stated that Kejriwal must surrender and return to Tihar Jail before his interim bail plea could be considered.

The ED’s lawyers argued that the trial court does not have the inherent power to release a person without adhering to the strict sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), which state that bail can only be granted if a prima facie case against the accused is not established.

The ED opposed Kejriwal’s plea, stating that he was seeking an extension of the interim bail granted by the Supreme Court and that only a person in custody could seek bail. It was also argued that it was the responsibility of a higher court, not the trial court, to release a person without complying with section 45 of the PMLA.

ED Questions Bail Plea Based On ‘Medical Reasons’

The ED also claimed that Kejriwal’s medical tests would only take a few hours, not several days, and that the prison authorities could look after him in jail. They suggested that the increase in Kejriwal’s ketone levels could be due to a urinary tract infection (UTI).

They also questioned why Kejriwal did not visit the doctor earlier after being released from jail and accused him of trying to extend his interim bail by delaying the process. They pointed out that Kejriwal had been campaigning after being granted interim bail.

The court has decided to reserve its decision on the interim bail plea until June 5.

  • Congress Surrenders 2024 Elections? BJP’s Shah, Nadda Criticises Exit Poll Boycott |

Congress’ Exit Poll Debate Boycott: The BJP has showered the Congress party with cutting remarks since the grand old party announced its decision to not participate in the exit poll debates shows. Home Minister Amit Shah took a dig at Rahul Gandhi saying that his party is in ‘denial mode’. He added that this shows that the opposition has conceded its defeat.

Affirming confidence in the exit polls Shah said that the exit poll will showcase the saffron party alliance getting the ‘400-paar’ remark. The Congress does not have the courage to take questions from the media, so it is dismissing the entire exit poll exercise as meaningless, he added.

He further said that the Congress campaigned through the polls claiming it would get a majority. However, it now realizes the reality and knows it faces a rout in the exit polls to be broadcast after the elections tomorrow.

    कांग्रेस को अपनी प्रचंड हार का पता चल गया है, तो अब किस मुँह से मीडिया और जनता को फेस करे? इसलिए, कांग्रेस एग्जिट पोल से भाग रही है।

He questioned whether the Congress was suggesting that there existed a large conspiracy involving millions of voters, all aimed at ridiculing the party when the actual results were revealed on June 4th. He remarked that it didn’t suit India’s oldest political party to act like a child whose toy had been taken away. He further added that one would anticipate a certain level of maturity from the largest political party in the opposition.

Congress’s decision to not participate in Exit Polls, on the eve of Phase 7 polling, is an unequivocal confirmation that the Congress has conceded the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is not surprising, since the Congress usually opts out when it doesn’t expect results to go in its…
